Mobile Working Technology Support (MWTS)

Scope:
Due to the growing concern of COVID-19 at the beginning of 2020, the Province directed employees to work from home to reduce the spread of the virus. This resulted in an immediate transition to mobile working and the need for departments to accommodate and adapt to the new work dynamic. Mobile Working Technology Support (MWTS) is being overseen by a Program Manager for the Province.

• Boardrooms require technology standardization and clear accountability. Common boardrooms should be Microsoft Teams compatible, using standardized technology.
• This project will enable the Government of Alberta (GoA) staff to be more productive by ensuring technology used meets their mobile working needs.
• The successful outcomes will be:
o Deploy mobile devices for working staff (laptops, docking stations, keyboards, and mice).
o Reduce mobile working staff having multiple devices (e.g. a desktop at the office and a laptop).
o Upon request, equip hoteling stations to ensure they are fully functioning.
o Equip boardrooms with standardized hardware to easily support Microsoft Teams meetings and collaboration.

Duties:
The Senior IT Technical Business Analyst will provide specific End User Computing (EUC) services used by the MWTS team within Technology and Innovation.

The services to be provided by the resource also include but are not limited to:
• Be an advocate and representative of the MWTS program.
• Be part of a collaborative team with the MWTS Program Manager to plan, sequence, and schedule tasks.
• Track ministry requests in spreadsheets (Excel) for hardware and peripherals.
• Create tickets in the GoA’s BERNIE (ServiceNow) system to order hardware and peripherals.
• Manage time and prioritize tasks; must be able to deliver on tasks concurrently.
• Escalate issues to the Program Manager as they arise.
• Plan and attend regularly occurring status meetings with team members to track progress, issues, and assignment of action items.
• Update and maintain documents and emails in the MWTS SharePoint system.
• Work collaboratively with ministry Champions to answer questions, ensure requests are correct, issues are addressed, and to ensure satisfaction.
• Work collaboratively with the End User Computing (EUC) vendor (Fujitsu) to ensure orders are being processed in a timely fashion, and to resolve issues.
• Capture risks, issues, and lessons-learned.
• Other associated duties as needed.

Equipment requirements:
• It is preferred if resource has their own equipment, though GoA will provide laptop/desktop if necessary.

Working Hours:
• Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province
• Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.
• It is anticipated the role will be 100% remote, however in the event of an onsite meeting, the GoA does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings, nor any expenses related to relocation, commuting, housing/accommodation, food/drink.

Notes on Location:
Resource will work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required.

Onsite meetings include but are not limited to strategic and technical discussions, meeting with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors and business clients. Frequency of meeting could be up to twice per month.

Incumbency:
• Previously this role was filled by a contractor, however, for this and all other opportunities, the Ministry seeks the best person to fill the role.

Standard Background check required
• The Supplier shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the Province, on its request and at no cost to the Province, with criminal record checks.

Mandatory Training Courses:
• Once hired the resource will be required to complete all mandatory training which includes but not limited to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Security awareness training. There may also be some optional courses as well.

Anticipated Interviews dates
• Will be held between April 29-30, 2024
